Belvedere school offers the TOC (Technical Occupation Curriculum) for learners from Year 1 to Year 4.
Learners attend academic classes and practical workshops.
Belvedere School also offers FET (Further Education and Training) to learners in Grade 10 – 12. The same curriculum is followed as mainstream education but we only offer five subjects. BELVEDERE PROFILE
BELVEDERE'S BACKGROUND
Belvedere School provides for learners with special scholastic needs and
learning disabilities.
We are passionate about the upliftment and empowerment of learners within a
special school setting.
At Belvedere we offer three independent scholastic streams:
- The TOC (Technical Occupation Curriculum) for learners from Year 1 to Year 4. Learners engage in academic classes and practical workshops. Year 4 is an exit level at the school and is equal to a NQF level 1.
- The practical workshops are Hairdressing, Consumer Studies: Food production (for girls) and Woodwork, Welding and Agriculture Studies (for boys).
- As part of our exit program we offer courses specifically chosen for each individual learners in line with their own individual inclination assessments and career assessments done by the school Therapy Centre.
- Belvedere School also offers FET (Further Education and Training), Grade 10 -12, as an option to learners who achieve the required benchmark in Year 4. It is important to remember that FET is the same curriculum followed as mainstream education but with only five subjects. This allows our learners to have more time per subject and allows them the opportunity to learn in smaller classes. The five subject Grade 12 is an ‘endorsed matric certificate’.
- Belvedere school offers the DCAPS curriculum to those learners with extreme learning barriers.
- The school offers most mainstream school sporting codes which include: Soccer, Cricket, Rugby, Athletics, Cross-Country, Swimming, Netball, Chess.
- Belvedere participates in the annual Festo Eisteddfod where learners can showcase their abilities to sing, recite poetry and prose, and cultural.
- Belvedere also participates in the National Online Eisteddford.
